In the aftermath of the election, we are coming together to challenge fear and isolation by deepening in beloved community. We gather in sacred circle, creating a safe space to grieve, process, and move to action. Together we connect to our ancestral wisdom, inciting the names of freedom fighters who have come before us. Let us call upon Harriet Tubman, Assata Shakur, James Baldwin, Octavia Butler, Audre Lorde, Dr. King, and the long list of ancestors lighting the way to our collective FREEDOM. This is a space to ground in the truth that we are not alone on this journey of healing the wounds of racism, homophobia, patriarchy, xenophobia, etc. We return to our power to transform and create a new world! *You are invited to bring an offering for the altar Family friendly event | ALL ARE WELCOME
About the facilitator: ChE (pronouns: they/ them) is the Artistic Director of #DignityInProcess, a multidisciplinary platform in response to the Black Lives Matter movement merging ancestral healing, art activism, and multi-generational wisdom sharing. ChE is a proud Queer/ Black/ Native American/ Mixed award-winning artivist, transformational educator, and equity consultant. Through their unique framework of Afro-Indigenous Liberatory Practice,* they use the power of culturally grounded wellness, arts-based community engagement, and race/ gender justice to build sustainable models of living. As a director/ choreographer, ChE's work is robust with gospel sounds and soulful movement of the African Diaspora—fusing Black Modern Dance* with storytelling, ritual, and interactive installation. In response to the recent and ongoing violence against Black bodies, #DignityInProcess is hosting a Black & Brown Healing Circle for people-of-color, featuring powerful New Orleans conjurers Monica McIntyre, Ellenie Cruz, Michaela Harrison, Soraya Jean-Louis McElroy, Jahslyn BlackLifeMagic, and #DignityInProcess Artistic Director, ChE. This sacred circle is not one to miss! As people-of-color the wear of systemic and interpersonal acts of oppression requires that we lovingly care for our bodies and spirits. Together we ground in the tools of our ancestors creating space for healing, collective grief, and always- Black LOVE!
Healing Circle Offerings: Reiki, Liberation Collage/ Afro-Futures Art Station, Centering/ Grounding Practices, Face Painting Divination, Ancestral Ritual, Freedom Song Circle and Community Building. $10 suggested donation. Funds will go directly to the healers. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The Lovings challenged Virginia's miscegenation law, and their landmark civil rights case, Loving v Virginia ended all race-based legal restrictions to marriage on JUNE 12, 1967 - LOVING DAY, the biggest multiracial celebration in the United States. We're honoring Richard and Mildred's legacy by showcasing love songs all night with special guests. Proceeds will benefit the New Orleans Loving Festival. Come share the love! |

THE LOVING STORY NOLF - Film Screenig & Discussion Ashé Cultural Arts Center 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70113 6:00 pm Please join us for a free screening of THE LOVING STORY by Nancy Buirsky. A racially-charged criminal trial and a heart-rending love story converge in this documentary about Richard and Mildred Loving, set during the turbulent Civil Rights era. The Loving Story is a story of love and the struggle for dignity set against a backdrop of historic anti-miscegenation sentiments in the U.S. The Lovings, an interracial couple, fell in love and married at a critical time in American history, and, because of a confluence of social and political turmoil our reluctant heroes bring about change where previously no one else could. They are paired with two young and ambitious lawyers who are driven to pave the way for Civil Rights and social justice through an historic Supreme Court ruling, changing the country's story forever. (2011, 77 minutes) There will be a short discussion following the screening, facilitated by Dustin Ruttenberg and the artist ChÉ.
